McHenry Software demos

NOTE: THIS DEMO PAGE HASN'T BEEN UPDATED IN YEARS!

PLEASE SEE OUR YOUTUBE PAGE FOR MSMAC3D VIDEOS

see Sample msmac3D videos for some samples of the new program features.

To feed the web surfing curious among you who wish to see samples of what can easily be created with our software, we have created this page from which you can download and view sample animations in various formats.

The m-smac animation is a standard part of the medit/msmac programs. Please realize that our graphics program is not a high-end SGI-type "hollywood" graphics package. The m-smac graphics program is to provide simple, direct, fast graphics for evaluation purposes as you execute the m-smac program.

Animation can be an effective tool for explaining complicated engineering principals. However, it has been our experience that all too often some "experts" get caught up in the "hollywood" magic and fail to carefully evaluate evidence in their quest to create a "pretty picture". You will find on reading our web pages that we wish to keep your feet firmly planted on the ground in the real physical world to insure that any reconstruction you perform with our software has a solid basis in Sir Isaac's Laws. If you are so inclined, you can easily use the time-history data from any of our programs to create any type of animation you'd like.

Of course, with you feet firmly planted, we still want you to realize the power of your PC. With that in mind, we have made it a standard part of the m-smac output to create graphics and animations. A simple click of the mouse and you can view an animation. While viewing the animation you can easily pan, zoom, move the origin, auto-pan with either or both vehicles, rotate the origins, add scene and vehicle objects you create (paint lines, markers, text, windows, etc.), etc., just by simple keyboard commands (PgUp, PgDn, Arrow keys, etc.).

Once you have reconstructed an collision, it is also very easy to create animations for distribution. To create an animation for distribution all you need to do is the following:

We plan on adding additional demo animations and also more detailed information on the specifics of creating animations so please check this page again every couple of weeks or e-mail us for automatic notification of updates.

DEMO - offset frontal

demo sample graphics

The following are links to a very short DEMO animation demonstrating some basic view capabilities of the m-smac graphics program outputs.

On the animation you will see an example including the scene option, zooming and panning and the F6 switch between transparent and opaque view.

These are just a few of the graphics enhancement tools provided to you with the msmac/medit programs. For additional information, please e-mail us or look to these pages for more detail in the coming months.

To view animations :

Download the file, decompress the ZIP file with PKZip or WinZip, and then view!

DEMOAVI.ZIP is a Windows AVI file animation {353K compressed ZIP file, expands to DEMO.AVI which is 2,088K in size.

Please e-mail any questions, comments, corrections or requests for further information.

DEMO2 - auto & tractor-trailer passing maneuver and impact

demo2 sample graphics

The following are links to a 10 sec DEMO2 animation (actual run time ~3 sec, I only saved frames every 0.10 sec. to conserve disk space)

In the animation an auto and a tractor-trailer pass a slow moving Farm tractor. After the pass the auto slows and turns left, into the path of the tractor-trailer.
On the animation you will see an example of the the scene option, zooming and panning and the Tractor-trailer option of m-smac

To view animations :

DEMO2.AVI is an Windows AVI file (3 megs).

DEMO2AVI.ZIP is a Windows AVI file animation {239K compressed ZIP file, expands to DEMO2.AVI which is 1,778K in size. You will need a windows AVI viewer to be able to view.}
