Card 97 - Gravitational Forces Simulation

An option to permit the simulation of the effects of gravity on a vehicle has been added to m-smac. By choosing and using m-smac input card 97, m-smac will apply a gravitational force in the –X direction during the simulation run.  Normally ballistic trajectories assume a point mass object. This can lead to errors in the trajectory of the vehicle. A simple way to demonstrate this is to run a long vehicle off a cliff to demonstrate (1) the effects of drag on the vehicle as the vehicle exits the cliff and (2) the change in the trajectory due to the length of contact area of the vehicle. A sample project DROPTEST has been added to demonstrate this new capability.

Set this option to 1.0 to permit the simulation of the effects of gravity on vehicle#1 in the X direction. This can be used to simulation a vehicle going off a cliff or bridge. (Where vehicle 2 is the cliff or bridge).

Set this option to 2.0 to permit the simulation of the effects of gravity on vehicle#2 in the X direction. This can be used to simulation a vehicle going off a cliff or bridge. (Where vehicle 1 is the cliff or bridge and vehicle 3 can be the landing zone).

See sample projects DropTest & Droptst2 for more information.
