Polygon Friction Zone Option Inputs: The original version of the SMAC program included the provision for two friction zones specified by a line. The logic for the friction zones was that for the area on the origin side of the specified friction zone line was specified as friction zone 1. The area on the non-origin side of the line was specified as friction zone 2. m-smac has added the additional option to specify up to two irregularly shaped polygon friction zone areas. The inputs are specified on cards 30, 31 and 32. Up to a maximum of twelve points may be used to define each optional polygon friction zone. The polygon friction zone logic specifies that for any tire within a polygon friction zone, the friction coefficient is set to the friction coefficient of the polygon friction zone. For any tire not within a polygon friction zone, the original SMAC logic for friction zones (described above) applies. |
