CARD 91, Additional EDSMAC mimic options

The following additional options are provided to permit testing the effects of various minor changes made to the program by the vendors of EDSMAC and others.

91:1

ConvDrag

The EDSMAC program includes a % drag option. In some test run comparison of results, it appears that the conversion from % to lbs in EDSMAC includes an arbitrary factor of 1.0007. Setting this option=1.0 will mimic the EDSMAC program.

91:2

ConvFac

For users so inclined, this option provides manual input of the conversion factor for the % option to the torque option.

If this variable is 0.0 and ConvDrag=1.0, it assumed to be 1.0007.

If this variable does not = 0., then this factor will be used to convert % to lbs. drag.

91:3

Cfactor

The EDSMAC program recommends the use of the CMU factor for the variation of the friction coefficient as a function of speed (card 12, field 7). In some tests, the EDSMAC program appears to apply the CMU factor a bit differently from the Original SMAC.

Set this option=1.0 to test the effects of a change in the calculation procedure which uses CMU

91:4

DelVtst

Delta-V Threshold: In some SMAC/EDSMAC reconstructions, 'noise' or 'chatter' during the collision or during subsequent re-contacts may produce small Delta-V's (< 1.0 MPH) which may cause the post processing routines to mismatch the main Delta-V with the proper clock direction.

To reduce the occurrence of possible mismatches the default behavior for the m-smac program is to ignore Delta-V 'chatter' when the magnitude is less than 0.50 MPH. To turn off the default m-smac behavior, set this options to 1.0.

91:5

DelVmin

Per the DELVtst in field 4 above, the default m-smac threshold for bypassing Delta-V matching is 0.50 MPH. To change the threshold, simply enter the desired Delta-V. Please be careful not to set the value too high. To turn off the threshold check, set DelTst= 1.0.

Per the Colltst option (see Card 90 , field 7 above) users can also optionally set the time durations for scanning for sideslap

91:6

Tscan1

If this input is 0.0, The normal value of 0.25 seconds is used for the primary scanning for a side-slap.

Sec

91:7

Tscan2

If this input is 0.0, The normal value of 0.25 seconds is used for a secondary scan for side-slaps.

91:8

NumIter

If this input is 0.0, when using the Ed-Opt option, the maximum number of iterations to seek equilibrium in the COLL routine is set=100. This options permits increasing the maximum number of iterations. Some test comparisons seem to indicate that some recent versions of EDSMAC (version 2.51?) may have increased the number of iterations to 200 or 250.
